Ramnadu Gundu Chilli is a small, round variety of dry red chilli, traditionally cultivated in the Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu. Don’t be fooled by its size — this chilli brings a balanced, lingering heat and a deep red colour, without overpowering pungency.
It is a favourite in Chettinad kitchens, temple cuisines, and home-style sambars — for its signature combination of flavour, aroma, and colour.
🌿 Why It’s Special
• Native variety from Ramnad, Tamil Nadu
• Naturally vibrant red hue – ideal for gravies, chutneys, and pickles
• Medium heat – adds flavour without numbing the palate
• Sun-dried and hand-sorted – no artificial colour enhancers
• Rich in capsaicin & antioxidants – supports metabolism and circulation
🔥 Processing
We source organically grown Gundu chillies from trusted farmers in the Ramnad region. After careful sun-drying, the chillies are hand-cleaned and packed without stem and dust — retaining their natural oils and aroma.
No sulfur. No smoke drying. Just traditional sun-curing.
🍽️ How to Use
• Fry in ghee or oil for seasoning dals and sambars
• Grind into chutney podis or spice mixes
• Use in pickles and thokkus for its thick, pulpy body
• Blend with garlic and tamarind for Chettinad-style chutneys
• Roast and powder for masala rice or spice rubs
